Topic: Coaching Well Trained Fleas:  Overcoming Your Limitations by Becoming Clear About Your Beliefs

"Without knowing their insanity the insane go on living as sane finding validation in the rest of us." - Shayla Rivera "It isn't what you 'Can Do' it's what you 'Do Do' that holds the most magnificent truth, that you are and have always been, in-charge" - Shayla Rivera "The greatest insanity of all resides in that time when she already knows the truth but continues to resist and refuses to change" - Shayla Rivera

In my many years in a plethora of businesses I have come to know some basic truths.  The most important of which is that we are all functioning within a level of insanity that has us convinced that we have the right answers.  I have been able to confirm that we are right about everything we think we are right about.

Being right about everything is what most of us secretly seek, and being in this quest is the very thing that is silently killing us and keeps us from truly seeing just how amazing everything is.

From motivational seminars, to 'certified' leadership courses, to communication retreats, and relationship conferences we are taught about the 12 rules of this and the seven concepts of that and the three truths of the other.  We seek secrets, magic, revelations, personal powers, and miracles; all which we do receive for a while just to find ourselves alone with that self that somehow knows how to get back to that place of inaction.  At least, this has been the truth for me.  This is what set me on the quest I will die on, one I call, "What the heck is going on here, why are we all so crazy."

My professional career spans NASA, Technical Sales, Certified Financial Advisor, Corporate Trainer, Motivational Speaker and Standup Comedian (yes, the real kind).  However, the jobs that brought insight to my life were, girl, woman, student, mother, wife, professional, human being and finally just Apprentice.  So, my interest is not in giving you rules and how-tos, my interest is in maybe accessing your own insights. And yes, I am funny.

    Possible Insights:

    *             Identifying what stress is and how to move through it quicker. (Sorry, stress is here to stay)

    *             Possible ways to get clarity about your own beliefs. (Get ready to laugh at yourself)

    *             Using that clarity to then make positive changes. (Only if you want to of course, you may remain stuck if that suits you better)

    *             Shifting your paradigm. (Your life is what you believe it is...why not believe better)

    *             What I know for sure. (I am RIGHT about this...come and find out)

Presented by: Shayla Rivera, Keynote Speaker, TV Host, Comedienne, Emcee/Host, Awareness Expert

Shayla Rivera was born and raised on the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico.  At the age of seventeen her parents moved to Texas and Shayla began a second life, one in which she had to re-learn everything she thought she knew.  From language, to culture, to new values, her journey became the journey of the observer.  Long story short, this observer ended up where they all do, on a stage sharing their findings through words, insights, and laughter.

But for the left-brain people; Shayla attended Texas A&M University, obtained a degree in Aerospace Engineering, and went to work for McDonnell Douglas at NASA JSC where she was an engineer for the Space Shuttle and Space Station programs.  From NASA, Shayla went on to technical sales for first Rosemount Analytical, selling liquid and gas analyzers and environmental systems to the Chemical and Refining industries, then for Buckman Laboratories where she sold water treatment chemicals for the same industries.  From there she went onto become a registered representative of financial products and life insurance for Prudential. Then, much closer to her dreams she became a corporate trainer and motivational speaker for Resource Associates in Houston TX, which finally lead her to her 21+ years as a professional Standup Comedian.  All of this while being a daughter, a mother, a wife, an ex-wife, a friend, a sister, a colleague and even an aerobics instructor.  Now it all has come full circle.

Shayla Rivera has received many accolades throughout her life and career including the Presidents Volunteer Service Awards in 2007 for her services to community.  She is an advocate for ABC-Awareness Begins Change. She is most proud of the honor to have been able to entertain our troops in the Middle East and throughout the world.
